A large entertainment space, worthy of hosting their neighborhood Sunday night ‘Happy Hour,’ was top of the wish list for this issues’ Gasper-Built featured project.
Sometimes when you see a large Gasper-built project, you may not realize that the job was built in multiple phases. In fact, creating a phased plan is a common approach to breaking up large projects into much more manageable sized projects and can be done for many reasons including budget and time considerations. This project was phased and built over 3+ years.
We did the work in three phases over three or so years. Gasper was fine with working the plan in phases and I am glad we did the work that way because we were able to live with each phase for a year and then evaluate how we used the space before proceeding to the next phase.
Phase 1
Creating the perfect entertainment area was the homeowner’s top priority and phase 1. The new fireplace and patio have become an extension of the pool area and are able to accommodate more guests with ample room for comfortable seating. Areas for seating include in front of the fireplace, bar seating on the new cook station and an extra dining set poolside.
Our homeowners particularly look forward to the fall and cooler weather because sitting in front of a raging fire in the new Gasper-built masonry fireplace is so enjoyable.
The masonry cook station with bar seating was also part of Phase 1. This cook station has professional grade Lynx appliances such as the grill and refrigerator and stainless-steel storage and trash drawers.
Phase 2
Phase 2 involved upgrading to a Timbertech composite deck as well as addressing the homeowners needs for protection from the sun and elements with an attached Gasper-built roof structure. Now the deck is an extension of the house and is used frequently throughout the year…even in the winter!
The original deck was a long, thin rectangle which made it awkward to place furniture. The new deck bumps out in several places, creating more usable space for both dining and comfortable seating.
Phase 3
Although the first thing people see, the front landscape for this featured project was actually the third and last phase of work that Gasper completed for this featured project. A new bluestone walkway and a refresh of the original landscaping instantly upped their home’s curb appeal.
The front is important because it is the first impression you give to people; but it is not only for other people, it is what I see every day when I pull into the driveway when I come home from work. I really like what the Gasper Designer (Nick Lupinacci) did in the front. There is always something blooming.
