A Traditional-Styled Patio for a Family of Five with Room to Play & Grow
Diana and her husband, Mike had just relocated back into the area from Pittsburgh and had bought a house with a large yard for their three young daughters to play in, but no patio or dining space from which to enjoy it. Gasper offered a lot of the things they were looking for in a contractor, such as expertise and design knowledge and most importantly they had everything all under one roof which was important to Diana since both she and her husband were busy with work. “Selecting Gasper minimized the amount of companies we had to deal with. I was able to make one phone call, instead of several. I did not have to find a landscape architect, contractor AND an interior designer,” says Diana.
The bluestone patio that Gasper designer, Nick Lupinacci, designed for the 70 year old colonial kept stylistically with the style of the house and worked carefully with the grades in the back yard to protect the large mature trees that were important to Diana and Mike to preserve. Working with a 3d model of the proposed design made it very easy for Diana and Mike to see what it would look like completed so there were not any surprises. Construction on the patio began earlier than expected and Diana was surprised how quickly the project was completed, without any hiccups.
Diana was also impressed with the internal communication within the Gasper organization which included the coordination of the new patio design with exterior designer, Eli Hymer in the Exterior Furnishings Gallery to come up with an outdoor furniture plan. In keeping with the natural feeling of the yard, Eli chose furnishings in teak, which would weather to a beautiful silver patina and be extremely durable. So durable, Eli likes to call teak lifetime pieces, because they will last a lifetime.
It allows us to bring our lives outside.
“The patio we built with Gasper is PART of the house. It is not just an accessory. It is another room, which just happens to be outside,” explains Diana. “This design will grow with us as our kids get older, because it so versatile.” Diana shares, “I can’t say enough about Gasper. I recommend them to my friends and neighbors all the time.”
