Gasper Patio Renovation Doubles the Usable Size of Existing Patio
Homeowners, Bruce and Jeanne M began their story back in the spring of 2021 soon after they contracted with Gasper Landscape Design & Construction to renovate their 23-year-old patio. The old concrete paver patio had begun settling and the old patio configuration only had room for a dining set, due to the overgrown boxwood hedge. One of the most important and significant improvements to the existing patio was to redo a set of stairs that had become unsafe to use due to settling.
Gasper Landscape & Design Construction started by removing the old patio and replaced it with a new wet laid blue stone patio. The new patio design replaced an old boxwood planter bed with a guard rail and doubled the usable space on the patio, providing room for both dining and seating. The new Gasper-built masonry steps are wider, provide for a landing mid-flight, and are well-illuminated during the evening hours, thanks to LED lighting that is incorporated just under the stair tread.
For the new dining area, they selected a teak extension table by Kingsley Bates. Extension tables are a great option for empty nesters like Jeanne and Bruce because they only need the extra seating space when all the kids and their families are over. At all other times, the table can be more intimately sized. To see how easy it is to open and close the extension table, check out our Ask Eli video.
In the lounge area of the patio, Gasper Exterior Designer, Eli Hymer suggested continuing with the Frances collection and proposed a deep-seated, cushioned sofa and two matching swivel rocker lounge chairs. The fire pit (Bellino 60×30” rectangular fire pit by Ebel) has the sleek, modern look of concrete but is rust-proof, powder-coated aluminum which is a lot lighter plus the convenience of gas makes this fire pit extremely easy to use.
To top it all off, Jeanne and Bruce added two large, 13ft cantilever umbrellas by Treasure Garden to the patio. The umbrellas shade the entire patio which otherwise would be in full sun and make it much more livable. The best part of the umbrella installation on this project is the inground mounts, which allow the umbrella to be mounted directly into the patio, forgoing the typical large cumbersome bases that you typically see supporting cantilever umbrellas.
Everyone I have over just loves the patio…and we simply say, it’s Gasper
Jeanne and Bruce could not be happier with their new Gasper patio. “We are out there more than ever,” Bruce M. shares. “We were very pleased from the very beginning. Everyone from Gasper has been a delight to work with” What can Gasper do for you? Contact us to schedule your consult today!
