Our Latest Featured Homeowners Create an Inspiring Backyard Project After Years of Saving Gasper Catalogs
The Project
Adam and Whitney R., this featured project homeowners, were particularly inspired by a Gasper-built pool house they saw in one of our publications a couple of years ago. Although they were not ready to start their pool project at the time, they began collecting images from Gasper as inspiration for when the time was right. Seven years later, they have a new deck, an enlarged pool paver patio, and a beautiful and very functional pool house; all built by Gasper.
We did some conceptual designs on our own that we brought to Gasper, and they just took them to the next level. Our sales designer, Erik Freeman asked all the right questions: How are you going to be using this and Think about the future…how you are going to be using this in 10 years?
The Deck
Adam and Whitney have added a new composite deck that almost doubled the size of their old deck. This has provided them with more space for seating and as an overflow space from their existing screened-in porch. They chose a composite wood that does not warp, rot, or need staining, reducing maintenance and providing more time to spend with family and friends. The angled direction of the deck boards and the inlaid border detail reflect Gasper’s attention to design and craftsmanship.
We decided to use Gasper because we could tell the craftsmanship was superior to anything else we had seen. The inlay on the deck is beautiful.
The Pool Patio
The pool was existing, but the paving around it was extended to provide more space for homeowners to enjoy dining and lounging by the pool. The new patio around the pool is curved in shape, and the large pavers are arranged in a random rectangular pattern. This pattern, typically used with natural bluestone, gives the patio a fresh, transitional style because of the smooth-textured, more contemporary-looking concrete paver. The guidance from Erik [Gasper Sales Designer, Erik Freeman] was great. He helped us think about things differently, outside of the box. He made our project flow beautifully.
The Pool House
The Gasper-built pool house is a versatile structure that serves multiple purposes. It includes a bathroom and a changing area, which is convenient for keeping wet feet out of the main house. In addition, it provides extra storage space for items like pool toys and equipment. The pool house also features a modest common area where family members and guests can retreat from the hot sun and relax in the cool, air-conditioned space. The pool house is strategically positioned in alignment with the pool, and its large double doors open up to a big TV that is perfectly centered for optimal viewing of sports games or other TV shows while enjoying a swim.
The pool house is a nice change of scenery. It is a little escape, a place to get out of the house and watch a movie together.
