With Gasper’s Help Couple Transforms Backyard from Self-described “Mud Pit” to Outdoor Living Perfected
Empty nesters Kathy and Dan H. had to decide whether to move to a 55+ Retirement Community or renovate their grown kids’ home. They chose to renovate and sought Gasper’s help to turn their muddy backyard into a space where they could enjoy quality time together.
Dining
The new curvilinear paver patio has three areas for conversation, a hot tub, and dining. Gasper designers worked around mature trees for a natural feel.
Seating
The seating area of the patio is a space that Kathy and Dan use almost every evening to relax and reconnect with each other.
We were not just pleased…we were delighted
The Hot Tub
We use the hot tub almost every night, especially my husband because it is a great place to relax. We feel so comfortable sitting outside, having a glass of wine or a martini to reflect on the day. We talk about future trips or the kids. It is a bonding thing where we get to enjoy the view and reflect on life together.
The Fountain
Gasper installed a homeowner-provided tiered fountain in the yard. The fountain is positioned to be viewed from the new patio as well as from the house, through the large family room windows. The cast stone fountain, as well as other styles of fountains, are available for purchase at Gasper Home and Garden Center.
Challenging Drainage
To manage stormwater drainage in the backyard, Gasper built a decorative retaining wall that raises the patio’s grade and directs water away from the house. The wall also serves as a beautiful seat wall and defines the edge of the patio.
The 3D Model
When somebody tells you, you are going to have pavers here, the hot tub here, a table there, you just cannot visualize how it is all going to get put together. That is where the 3-D renderings from Gasper really helped. It was extremely easy to visualize what it would look like
