A new patio configuration take advantages of the views to the pool
Joe and his wife Beth were looking for the perfect company to work with them on their large back yard renovation project. They first reached out to an Architect, who was not a good fit and then to a contractor who never called them back. Lucky for them, that is when Joe’s business partner referred them to Gasper Landscape Design & Construction. It turned out that Joe’s business partner and wife had just finished a large landscape project with Gasper for their new home and were thrilled with both the landscape design and the installation.
Joe and Beth’s project initially began because both the existing grill and the existing deck material were in need of repair. Unfortunately both items had to be completely removed. This gave Gasper landscape architect, Christina Reeves a clean slate on which to rethink Joe and Beth’s entire back yard space. The previous existing deck had a lot of room in theory, but it always felt underutilized and disjointed. To remedy this, Christina lowered the main patio down three steps from the level of the house and brought the lower patio up three steps from the pool. This brought each patio closer in elevation to each other and allowed for fewer steps between each level.
On the main level, a new structure houses a large bar with a TV on a large masonry wall. Attached to the structure is a stained cedar pergola which provides dappled shade over the main dining area. Separate but adjacent to the structure is a new grill and cooking station.
The new mid-level patio features a rectangular, gas fire pit and was reconfigured to be on axis with the large stone chimney and windows on the back of the.
“We love eating and cooking outside. With this design you can spend your time in many different spaces and rooms,” states Joe. R

“Gasper gave us the ability to see the entire contract, was the GC (General Contractor) and was able to handle all the interfaces with the township and any subcontractors that were needed. A lot of other companies could not handle all the aspects of our job. It was a lot better than doing it myself,” shares Joe. “We would recommend Gasper because of their sophisticated design ability, their quality finished product and high level of service.”
