When homeowners, Michael & Dawn were looking to host their son’s college graduation party in the summer of 2016, they knew that their back yard was in need of some serious renovations. Not only were they looking to update the concrete pool decking around their 12 year old pool, but they knew they wanted an outdoor fire feature, a pergola and a spot for their custom hand built Forno Classico Wood Burning Oven.
In the process of interviewing several landscape firms, it immediately became apparent, based on the responsiveness of sales designer and project manager Bob Gasper, that they were dealing with a different level of professionalism.
Gasper’s design process was what gave us confidence. The design solution was much more creative than the other rudimentary designs we had received. We could tell that the Gasper designer had given it a personal touch.
Details About the Project
The existing living areas were disjointed and there was a need for separation from the driveway. Working with a curvilinear design to complement the existing pool, Gasper landscape designer Nick Lupinacci went to work. By varying paver patterns and colors Nick was able to create a series of “Outdoor Rooms” that provided a better relationship with the pool. Given the existing elevation changes, the use of multiple levels allowed for a smooth transition from the home to the pool.
The cherished pizza oven was anchored by a stone and granite cooking area which provided Michael ample counter space to create his culinary masterpieces. The stone fireplace and solid cedar pergola act as a focal point to the design, and a cozy gathering space for family and friends. By providing three dimensional models in addition to detailed plans, Gasper is able to help the client visualize the design ideas which allows for immediate feedback.
It came out identical to the model.
The level of quality didn’t stop at the design phase but continued with the installation of the project. In fact, the work ethic and attention to detail exhibited by Gasper’s foreman and crew made the homeowners so comfortable they went on vacation to Bora Bora, a trip that had been scheduled prior to breaking ground. Even though they were half way around the world, Bob Gasper maintained communications, forwarding photos, which allowed the clients to be kept up-to-date.
I talked to the foreman every morning. He always communicated to me what they were going to be working on that day.
It goes without saying that the finished project more than exceeded Michael and Dawn’s expectations. All renovations were completed in time for the summer swim season AND the graduation party. Dawn has found that the pergola patio is her favorite nook to sit in good weather, and Michael has been working hard to perfect his signature prosciutto, walnut, fig, gorgonzola cheese and balsamic vinegar pizza. Che buono!
