A Complete Gasper Renovation of Both the Front & Back Outdoor Spaces
Some people are looking for a new home that is turnkey or move-in ready, others look for a home that has good bones or is in an excellent location and then enjoy the challenge of renovating it to making it 100% their own. Our featured project homeowners fall into the latter category. When sales designer, Erik Freeman first met with our homeowners the back yard was a clean slate; An old deck, overgrown plant material and anything else that was in the back yard had been completely removed and the pool company for a new in-ground pool had been hired by the homeowners. So, Erik and Gasper landscape designer, Nick Lupinacci set about creating a fresh, new design, which would perfectly suit our Homeowners.
The Gasper design included a new, multi-level, composite deck with an attached roof. On the upper level of the deck, under the vaulted, wood ceiling is plenty of space for a large dining table and seating for the cast stone veneered bar counter that over looks both the pool and the outdoor cooking area.
On the lower level of the deck, a new outdoor kitchen features a Lynx, freestanding grill that is flanked on either side with generous granite counters for prepping and serving food. There is a small prep sink, perfect for handwashing and an outdoor-rated, 2-drawer style refrigerator. Drawer style frigs make it easier to reach items since they are accessible from above. They also are lockable which adds security, even if it is from your teen and their friends!
The pool, spa and stone waterfall were built and designed by the pool company, Jaydan Contractors, with whom Gasper worked seamlessly throughout the design and construction process. Gasper installed all the concrete paver patios and plantings around the new pool. The new pool patio is large enough to accommodate several different seating areas, one for a large sectional couch with gas fire table, another for chaise lounges and a third for a smaller, more intimate seating arrangement.
After the rear yard was complete, attention was turned to phase 2 which was renovating the front of the house. The concrete landing at the front door was capped with wet-laid bluestone and a new, wider step was built. The landing now leads down to an elegant curved dry laid bluestone walkway which connects the driveway and front door. Large overgrown plants were removed and replaced with size-appropriate plantings that were selected to look good year-round. Even the portico was rebuilt by one of Gasper’s skilled carpentry crews (with many of same details as the original), but in PVC which does not need to be painted and resists rot.
After the front yard renovation was complete, Gasper engaged in a few more projects on the property, including renovations to the driveway side entrance, as well as refiguring an existing mudroom to accommodate a new area for laundry.
