Gasper’s renovation of this front and rear yard for local Electrician and his family is truly electrifying!
Greg & his wife Christine moved to this property in 2018 with their four boys. The 3.5 acre property had a lot of open space for the kid to play, but the house and landscaping around it was in need of a complete rehab. They started with the house, taking it down to the studs, redoing the roof, replacing the windows and adding an extension. They also did a lot of re-grading to level and reestablish the perfect lawn for the kids.
Greg and his wife own Advanced Electric Contractors which has been in business for over 20 years. He mainly does large scale commercial electrical work, but he has collaborated with Gasper on a few residential projects (Shout out to the fabulous café lights he installed over his own patio!). So when they were ready to tackle a new front yard and renovations to the deteriorating back patio, they reached out to Gasper.
Greg and his wife were blown away by Gasper’s initial proposal to create a front courtyard. “It wasn’t anything I would have come up with”, remembers Greg, “and the 3D model, sold me on the job. I loved seeing what my project was going to look like.” Instead of the old concrete sidewalk, Gasper installed new dry laid bluestone walks with a clay brick border and bluestone supertread steps. At the center point of the new courtyard where the views of the front door and the new walkway meet, a circular landing with a large cast stone urn was designed. The urn is planted with seasonal plants and is a visual focal point both from the house and porch and for guest arriving via the front walk.
In the back, there was an existing deteriorating brick patio with brick walls that were uncapped. Gasper removed the brick patio and replaced it with a wet laid Pennsylvania bluestone patio with clay brick accents that matched the brick on the house perfectly. The existing walls were repaired and repointed, then capped with bluestone, which not only gives the wall a more finished appearance, but also helps to protect the wall from water damage. An old unusable exterior fireplace, a previously dead space, was transformed into a cooking station for the new gas grill, complete with granite countertops.
Greg had always wanted a pond and the Gasper designer was able to place the pond so that the family could overlook the pond year round from their sun room, where they usually eat dinner. “I love to watch it from the dinner table,” says Greg. The sound of running water is particularly soothing and makes sitting around the fire table even more relaxing.
They went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied
As an owner of a successful business, Greg recognized the quality of Gasper’s workmanship and its employees. He was very impressed that the Gasper crews stayed on the job the entire time. There was no times where they pulled off the job. Plus everyone from the Gasper team was incredibly polite and respectful. “They went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied”, recalls Greg. “We get tons of compliments on the work.” Want to see how Gasper can electrify your outdoor space?
